Snowbasin Resort is a perennial top ten for SKI magazine in categories like dining, service, lifts and grooming. Here's how that translates: Snowbasin takes care of everything it can control, and Mother Nature does the rest. Snowbasin Resort is under an hour from Salt Lake City International Airport, but is also about 30 minutes from the historic and vibrant Ogden metropolitan area. This is a city with farm-to-table dining, great performing arts and museums, as well as a fervent love for outdoor recreation. It’s stunning to realize Ogden’s backyard includes Snowbasin's 3,000 vertical feet and 3,000 skiable acres.

Run Highlights

  • Women’s Olympic Legacy | Black Diamond - Get a taste of the 2002 Winter Olympics by following the route that made up the women’s Wildflower Downhill course. To get yourself to the starting line, take the John Paul Express Quad to the Allen Peak Tram. The course begins at Women's Start, merging onto John Paul Trail, then Wildflower Downhill, Draba Drop, City Hill, and finally, Women's Finish — altogether, 2,625 feet of vertical drop.
  • Elk Ridge | Blue Square - Get a great opportunity for breathtaking views when you take the Strawberry Express Gondola to a prime spot between DeMoisy Peak (9,370 feet) and Strawberry Peak (9,265 feet). The views continue on the Elk Ridge trail, with its gentle ridgeline start into wide-open terrain. It may be a leg-burner for the 2,500 feet of vertical, but you’re getting double duty on this run.
  • Men’s Olympic Legacy | Black Diamond - Conveniently enough, the 2002 Winter Olympics men’s Bernhard Russi-designed Grizzly Downhill was here, too. It has fewer trail merges than the women’s course and 2,897 feet of vertical, so you won’t have to bring a map. Take the John Paul Express Quad to the Allen Peak Tram, which will let you off at the starting line. Hit Men’s Start, then merge onto John Paul Trail and then Grizzly Downhill.
Run tip: Get your ski legs warmed up on the Becker and Wildcat lifts, or if you're an intermediate to expert skier, skip to the solid trails up the Strawberry Express Gondola and the John Paul Express Quad.

Make a Note

  • Groomed and smooth - Since you've really come for the downhill, Snowbasin also works its magic on impeccably groomed snow.
  • Convenient gondolas - Snowbasin's gondolas provide a spectacular ride which, when combined with the tram, make Snowbasin a very visitor-friendly resort.
  • The Allen Peak Tram - This tram carries 15 expert skiers and riders to the 9,366-feet mark of Allen Peak, which accesses the legendary Olympic downhill, among other hikeable expert terrain.
  • Plenty of snow - The resort’s nearly 3,000 vertical feet pack in 113 designated runs for every skill level.
  • Nordic skiers - Nordic skiers get a boost at Snowbasin, where they have more than 16 miles of trails they can access for free. Suitable for both skating and classic style Nordic skiing, the trails wind through snowy glades and meadows under towering mountain peaks.
  • Bathroom or ballroom? - Snowbasin’s swanky, award-winning bathrooms are complete with chandeliers that reflect the impeccable manner in which it maintains its resort.
